Sport & more Sports
The Phoenix Suns and the D-Backs are both at the top of their game as I write this blog.
For a sports addict like myself this is pure joy. I would love to see Nash get his ring this year. There are not many players in professional sports who give you everything without attitude. Nash is the man. Speaking of giving it your all ~ I ran a 5k this weekend and beat my own personal best time and came in first in my division. Not to bad for a 50 year old who just started running distance 10 months ago. I have to give my daughter a lot of credit for pushing me. Tom now has the bug and we will be running 1/2 marathon together in September! Who would have guessed that one?!
Spring training this year was as perfect as it gets. We did a Mexico shopping trip and a D-back game in one day. The D-backs won and the weather was perfect. It was my first introduction to the new uniform and I'm so not crazy about their new color. April moved into her new house the middle of all the spring training craziness. She had a lot of help and we didn't miss a game or a beer. Heidi (my niece) taught us a new game for baseball which has been named "pass the cup". Thank you Josh for inventing it!! We had all the men around us wanting to play and have us teach it to them ~ of course it couldn't be the young sexy 20 something girls that were with me or the fact that there was a lot of green bills in the cup (no it is not a drinking game). It keeps your mind on the game even while having a beer or two. We watched Bonds strike out. No home run on my watch!! I think the best moment for me came when I took Heidi up to see the Cubs at practice. As we walked toward their training field she got this funny look on her face and she asked me if I was sure we could be there. Then she wanted to know if we had to pay. As the Cubs came running off one diamond in front of us, to cross over to another, she just looked at me and I had to laugh. I told her that is the best part of spring training ~ you are up close enough to get them to sign anything you want and it cost you nothing at practice and next to nothing to see a game! Of course, most those players are still working on becoming a "somebody" and will never make it to the professional league. I still laugh when I think of the look on her face. Life is all good in this hood ~ hope it is for you!!
