Look Who's Turning 50!

On August 28, 2006 at 8:40 a.m. my mother, Jami Blake, will officially be 50 years young. If any of you are appalled that I would divulge my mothers age, let me assure you that she will not be upset. She believes that every year given to her is a gift and nothing to hide. I wanted to give her a special surprise party but that was definitely out considering her remote location. My mother has lived in 3 different states and has developed countless, lasting friendships with people around the nation. Although celebrating in Sioux Falls, South Dakota is but a mere dream for most of us, I understand that attempting to get everyone together in one location at the same time would have been next to impossible. To ensure that all of the wonderful people who have touched my mother's life (and vice versa) have a chance to express appreciation and well wishing on this important milestone in her life I decided to build her a blog. This loving space was built with the intention of giving all of us the opportunity to wish her a happy birthday by sharing a detailed story, a brief memory or caring sentiment. However, I do encourage jocularity in your posts. As most of you know by now my mother enjoys witty banter with a twist of sarcasm (please don't disappoint!). The ultimate purpose will be a book of written expressions to help my mother reflect on all of the awesome events and phenomenal people that have filled the past 50 years of her life. The fun doesn't end there though! This electronic time capsule will evolve into a personal blog where my mom will continue to write out her life experiences. I welcome all of you to this space and on behalf of my mother I ask you to share openly and freely with love and humor in your hearts.
